I only asked you one thing! Geez, sorry for being worried!
[He's still really annoyed, maybe even slightly upset, and Scott's frown twists into one of concern, although he doesn't want to be too open about it. Not when they're arguing like this.] Not like I ruined your toast this morning. That's all on you.
[The fact that Kurt seems to be in actual pain almost instantaneously wipes the irritation that's been building in his chest. Okay, definitely not just morning crabbiness, or pissy about burnt toast or whatever crap. Something else is going on. Scott's walking closer to Kurt now, not bothering to hide his concern as he reaches for his shoulder.
Is this some after effect from the reset...? Shit, he should've paid more attention--]
Kurt, what's wrong-- what's happening? [Right, maybe less questions.] Come on, let's get you to the couch.
[He's pushed back a couple of steps and Scott doesn't try getting closer again, but he's still not relenting on helping Kurt. He looks at him with that same frown, the one that's truly worried about him.]
It's fine.
[He cuts quickly through any apologies, no longer really caring about that sort of thing. Yeah, it hurt a little to pushed back, but this isn't Kurt. Not normally. And he wants to get to the bottom of it.] You need to rest. Did you want me to grab anyone? Anything?
[Scott wants to ask how long he's been feeling like this, but he figures that it might be best to try and relieve the symptoms?]
[Something calming...? Okay, think Summers. Nothing big comes to mind, but he can't just stand here and watch Kurt clearly struggle with something, even if doesn't want him touching him.]
Okay Kurt, just lie down. We'll start with that. [...] And just wrap yourself in a blanket or something. I'll grab you breakfast in the mean time. Maybe hot chocolate? I know it's morning, but who cares, right?
Oh, you mean, 'wow, thank you Scott for being the best friend ever.'
[You're welcome, Kurt!! Still, his anxiety over his friend's well-being keeps Scott from being too reactive about this, just motioning for him to start walking to the couch.
Okay, teleporting to it works too.]
Did anything happen at the terminals? [He calls out to Kurt as he starts preparing the drink in the kitchen.]
[He would probably actually say that when feeling better. But he groans and pinches at his head as he thinks back to the terminals.]
Everything went according to plan, Dad. We took care of the shadow monsters, and Quentin took care of the technical stuff. Mission accomplished! Right?
[Wow. Dad. With them being a little further away from each other, maybe Kurt won't hear Scott grumbling under his breath. Although at this point, he still might not be too sorry about it.]
That's really all that happened?
[Because things went pretty south with his group, stuff that he doesn't want to bring up now. It's enough just worrying about Kurt and he also doesn't need his friend to get an even bigger headache. Which. Would be the reasonable reaction.]
Dude, you do realize how suspicious that answer was, right?
[Will they last until Scott finishes the hot chocolate?? The real question of the morning.] Especially since you're the one with the massive headache right now, not me.
What marks are you talking about Kurt? [The hot chocolate isn't done yet, but Scott walks closer to the living room just so that he can peer at him from the entrance of the kitchen. With a familiar little frown. Slowly, he's becoming just like other Scotts--]
Are you talking about the corruption?
[Caitlyn got hit by that... and fuck. Is that what's going on?]
Yeah, that's exactly it-- Caitlyn had the same thing.
[So, it wasn't just her. Other people at different terminals were infected it sounds like. He wonders how many people got hit by the corruption and makes Scott uneasy, mostly worried. There was a cure that was made long ago, but do they still have the ingredients for that? Would it still work?
And everything with Kurt definitely makes sense now.]
I had the same thing before, months ago. [...] It. It drained me. Felt like I didn't want to do anything.
[Okay, stay calm, Summers. Freaking out about this won't help Kurt at all and someone needs to have a clear mind when dealing with this. Sure he's stressed, especially since he really hoped that things would be back to normal after the reset, but he can push it down. That's what he's supposed to be doing anyway.
Now, he needs to get Kurt on the same page. Explain what he does know.]
That's right. Caitlyn got infected when we neared the terminal and I had something similar before you got here.
[Still big frowning from Scott though, that won't change.] I felt more exhausted and defeated and Caitlyn became violent, so maybe the corruption affects people differently. Or it's a different... strand of it.
[Small exhale and--] I lost control at the end, but it didn't make my powers act up before then.
It went away on its own, but I remember that a couple of people from the clinic was able to make something to help with the symptoms. I'll stop by there and see if they can recreate it.
[Hopefully they have some leftover ingredients... and hopefully it will work on the corruption that Kurt has. Scott will cross that bridge when it happens.]
Are the marks still on you? [He starts walking closer to Kurt, no longer able to just stand by the entrance of the kitchen. Looks like that hot chocolate will also have to be put on hold for the time being, because Scott's definitely focused on this.]
Maybe it's a sign that you're getting better, just some leftover symptoms from the corruption.
[Usually it's a good sign when symptoms start lessening and everything right? Like when a fever drops or you start coughing less, that means you're on the road to recovery. Still with the reset and the whole corruption stuff that he's both seen and personally dealt with, he doesn't want to take any chances or sit on his ass when his friend may be hurting.]
I'll still go to the clinic, don't worry about that. And as I've mentioned earlier, you're going to continue sitting on your ass until you're 100% better.
[Scott can't stop himself from crossing his arms in return.]
Great, then I better see your ass still on this couch when I come back.
[He'll remember to grab the hot chocolate for Kurt at least. It's just powder mix with some milk, so nothing too special, but it's still the breakfast of champions. It is in Scott's opinion!]

...I don't even know what's bothering me, man!!

Back off dude!!
[Except the he almost immediately seems remorseful, ducking his head back down again.]
I'm sorry. I didn't... mean to.

It's fine.

I- I don't know! Something calming, I guess? Anything that I- that I can't get mad at?

Okay Kurt, just lie down. We'll start with that. [...] And just wrap yourself in a blanket or something. I'll grab you breakfast in the mean time. Maybe hot chocolate? I know it's morning, but who cares, right?

Fine. You don't have to baby me, you know!
[He teleports onto the nearest couch and lays there for a moment.]
...B-but hot chocolate does sound rad...

Yeah. Nothing else... Nothing that mattered, anyway. ...It's gone now, so it's like it didn't happen.

[Wait a minute.]

[Scott knows about it? That surprise is enough to bring Kurt to his senses for a moment as he thinks.]
It, it was these dark marks running all along my arms. I guess corrupt does sound like- like a word for it.

It happened to someone else? It happened to you?!
[He runs a hand through his hair.]
I guess that kinda is what it felt like. Like I wasn't even... really me. Plus my powers acted up.

So- so it's like some kinda big sickness but with different symptoms. H-how do I fix it?

[Hopefully they have some leftover ingredients... and hopefully it will work on the corruption that Kurt has. Scott will cross that bridge when it happens.]

[Kurt urges him nervously, eager to make this go away. He rubs at his arm uncertainly. But he shakes his head at his question.]
No, the marks were gone when I woke up. That's why I thought - this was supposed to be over!
