Well... mostly just normal school stuff, and weird rumors.

[He shrugs sheepishly.]

Hey, I'm definitely not offended to not be a spirit! But it seems like the truth is? There's a whole of worlds out there, and there's already a bunch of people from different ones around.

[ Korra nods. She's been friends with exactly three people her age when she was 17. She could understand rumours and typical kids stuff. Didn't make it any less weird from these creepy students though. ]

This has to be a trick. No way someone is powerful enough to kidnap people from different worlds.

[ She sighs, obviously worn out from all this information. He could be mistaken. Maybe there was brainwashing or something equally sinister, but not unheard of going on. ]

I thought the same thing! [It still seems possible, that they're all in some complex somewhere and brainwashed. But if that's so, only one of their worlds could be real.]

But in a place like this, I think we have to be ready for any possibility. But I know that it's got to be a lot to take in. Just... take some time to digest it all.

Right. I guess I'm just going to have to roll with the punches.

[ Not ideal but she had experience in that. She looks Kurt over before saying. ]

I'm Korra by the way. Nice to meet you, besides the circumstance, I mean.

'Besides the circumstances' is pretty much a given here. And good luck rolling with those punches...

But that said, it is nice to meet you too, Korra. My name's Kurt!

Hey, I'm tougher than I look.

[ Her smiles fades after a moment. ]

So, what now? I just hop into a class and wait for a monster to show up?

Are you sure? You look pretty tough as it is! [He says lightly before he goes on.]

Um... Well, something like that. Unless you can think of a way out of here, the only thing to do is... live life here, learn what we can and try to stay on guard. I don't mean to be paranoid or something, but... here, bad stuff can come up out of nowhere.

You probably don't ever want to find out. [ She jokes but. ]

Right. Well, I guess I'll have to take a good look around first.

[ She pauses for a second and says. ]

Since I came here I haven't be able to bend. I thought maybe it was because I was drugged or something and it was the after effects. But now I think it might have to do with this place.

You're having trouble... bending? [He blinks in confusion.

Then Kurt tries bending over, followed by bending his elbows.]

I dunno, I can do it just fine.

[ Was this guy being a wiseass? Korra looks at him trying to decide whether to be sarcastic or genuinely fix the misunderstand. ]

No, bending. Like the elements. You know, fire, earth, water. Air too.

[ She makes a basic earthbending move, of an aggressive punch. Nothing happens but she looks at Kurt like this explains everything. ]

[Mostly he's misunderstanding. But make no mistake, he's very capable of being a wiseass.]

What do you mean? [He blinks.] Like... a power?

...You're just making a punch. [Kurt's too early for even the first series, so he has no fourth walling knowledge to work with.]

Yeah, a power. To control the elements. That sort of thing.

[ Korra slaps her face, and groans. ]

I know! But it's an earthbending move. Earth should be moving right now.

Guess I don't got it anymore.

[ Her expression sags, obviously feeling very badly about this. ]

[He offers a sympathetic frown.]

Hey, man... Don't get down in the dumps on me. Apparently it happens to everyone here with powers. But... It might not be permanent. Some people get it back later. [He personally hasn't, but one of his friends have.]

And you look like you're ready to kick some serious butt without any powers anyway!

[ She lights up like a firework at that. ]

Really? That'd be the best, that would--

[ Make everything less scary, and more fire-bending in anyone's face who dared attack students. Korra laughs at Kurt's joke and smiles more easily now that she's received some good news. ]

Thanks. But trust me, the powers are a lot more "butt kicking" than just a fist.

[And she's back up already! Awesome. Kurt laughs at her turnaround.]

Well when that time comes, I've got to see for myself! As long as it's not my butt, okay?

[ Korra chuckles. And keeps her voice joking still. ]

Hey, you could be an evil mastermind. Gotta stay on my toes.

[He fakes a whiny voice.]

Aw, but now you're going to ruin all my evil plans! Way to go!

[ She punches him lightly in the arm, buddy buddy like. ]

That's what I do. Part of the Avatar package and all.

[He still rubs at his arm a little afterwards...]
