CHARACTER: CANON SECTION
NAME: Kurt Wagner
AGE: He's around 17 at the end of the series
CANON: X-Men Evolution

CANON HISTORY: Wiki Link!
CANON PERSONALITY:

Kurt is a friendly young mutant who has often been desperate to fit in with and be accepted by others. He has faced adversity all of his life due to being a mutant, and specifically being a mutant with a distinctive appearance that resembles a furry blue devil. Despite all of the prejudice that Kurt is implied to have faced, he still retains a very sunny demeanor most of the time. Kurt is known for being an easygoing friend who often likes to play the role of the class clown, most likely to help endear himself to people more easily. He is also a very mischievous pranker and can be a bit of a showboat whenever he finds reason to gloat. A lot of his light-hearted shenanigans can helps to lighten tense situations, and he is even known to supply one-liners when in the middle of a battle. On the flip side, he doesn't always take situations as seriously as he should, although knowing Scott Summers and the other X-Men has helped him to learn how to be more serious when he needs to be.

In general, Kurt is very nervous and insecure about himself and his identity. This is reflected in his dependence on his image inducer, a special watch which makes Kurt look like a normal human. It seems to be hard for Kurt to trust others with the secret of what he really looks like. There is one episode in which a girl asked him out to the dance, and he only revealed his true form after she admitted that she was already aware of it and was attracted to it. A later episode, "Mainstream", also showed how far Kurt could go in order to protect himself. In that episode, he was the only member of the X-Men who wasn't publicly known to be a mutant. He took advantage of this to avoid his friends when they were being heckled, and he even denied being friends with them at one point. Kurt ultimately did manage to progress past this to an extent, as he revealed himself as a mutant in a crisis situation in order to save the lives of others. However, he did so with the image inducer still activated and he refused to turn it off, as he was not ready to reveal his 'true' self to the world just yet. This shows that sometimes Kurt's past trauma and insecurities can lead him to turn against his friends and run away from his problems.

In a less mutant specific-manner, Kurt also seeks to be desperate to be accepted in general as a popular teenager. A lot of this is reflected in how Kurt often seems to be trying too hard to be cool. He wears baggy pants and he whips out a lot of outdated 'lingo' which he seems to think is hip and cool. This likely is a result of being exposed to a lot of American media before actually coming to America itself. Kurt generally tends to work as a follower, and he'll likely tag along with most plans as long as they do not conflict with his inherent beliefs. He can be pushed to defy some rules depending on the circumstances, even if he would normally try to be diligent in accepting them. This was reflected during his time hanging out with Tabatha Smith, as she managed to convince him to sneak the both of them out when they were grounded by the professor. They managed to have fun at the fair because of this, although ultimately he faced the consequences of his actions by revealing his rule-breaking in order to help save Tabatha from her criminal father. He's also insecure in that he can easily be made to be nervous around others and put his foot in his mouth. He's quick to blame himself before others as well; once when it's pointed out that he's arrived early to a date, his initial reaction is to try to leave so that he can come back at the right time. Beyond that, Kurt can be capable of generally making very dumb and/or reckless decisions when it comes to impressing others. The most prominent example there would be when, in an odd attempt to impress Kitty, he teleported onto the nose of the X-Jet when he was the one who was piloting, which caused more mayhem then anything else.

Despite everything, Kurt still has a core of optimism that drives him in seeking out the best in people. He believes in people, and this is a motivating force in the way in which he views his family. It was first shown prominently through his relationship with Rogue. In a way, he always acted as an 'annoying kid brother' to her, and he valued her friendship even when she could be a difficult person to deal with. After finding out that they were both connected to Mystique as a parent in some way, Kurt openly embraced the idea of being a sibling to Rogue and pressed on in considering her to be a sister despite her initial reluctance. However, Mystique has been the more turbulent part of the equation. Ever since he found out that they were related, Kurt has been hurt and confused by the way Mystique abandoned him despite being his birth mother. Even though he was apparently happy with the parents who adopted him, he still retained this sense of longing for peace with the person who gave birth to him. This came to a head after Mystique was turned into stone and Kurt wanted to help her despite everything. This was because he believed that this was for the best and that there was good in her. The problem was that he could not reconcile this with Rogue's intolerant anger towards Mystique. When Mystique was shattered by Rogue, it traumatized Kurt and caused him to shun his apparent sister for a while. His caring nature ultimately won out and led to him forgiving Rogue, but his optimistic outlook suffered a significant blow from the incident. And so Kurt maintains his cheery demeanor while steadily maturing on the inside.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Kurt is a mutant, so he has several different powers/abilities:
-Teleportation: His signature power, involves instantly teleporting between two points. (Or at least it looks like teleporting; in actuality it's passing being pulled through and then returned from a hell-like dimension at two different points at a speed too incredible for Kurt or anyone with him to actually notice). His limit is two miles, and it's dangerous for him to teleport to areas that he can't actually see so he will usually avoid that.
-He has a prehensile tail that can be used to grip onto anything that's grippable and can also support his own weight.
-He can cling to any solid surface, even walls and ceilings. Eat your heart out, Spider-Man!
-He can also be very acrobatic in his movements, and he undergoes intense training regularly with the X-Men that sharpen his reflexes and endurance, and he's also learned some hand-to-hand combat.

CHARACTER: AU SECTION
AU NAME: Kurt Wagner
AU AGE: 18
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: Due to his mutation, Kurt's true form is very not-human-looking. His skin is blue, and he is covered in blue fur. He has fanged teeth and a prehensile forked tail as well as three-fingered hands and weird feet. Naturally, he will have to be humanized, but luckily canon already gives us a reference for his human form in the form of the image produced by his holographic watch. This is what that human form looks like, and the only deviation I'll be making in-game is saying that Kurt's hair is dyed blue. He'll still have the same horrible fashion sense.

AU HISTORY:

-Kurt is of German heritage, but he was born and raised in Recolle. He only knows very basic German.
-His family is Catholic. Kurt has been a fairly devout follower, although he's been increasingly tempted to be rebellious as he's gotten older.
-He comes from money. One of his parents is a movie producer and has pushed Kurt into acting from an early age. They also provide somewhat of an elitist influence and try to dissuade Kurt from making friends with other 'ordinary' people whom they see as obstructions to his success. Despite that, he has still made such friends throughout his life and especially seeks to do so now at college.
-At the age of 12, he was cast to play Franz "Fuzzy" Lehmann, the wacky kid sidekick character in a supernatural comedy/mystery series called Heckbusters. Heckbusters will be sort of a mash-up of parodying different series, with the core cast being vaguely Scooby-Doo-like. Kurt's character in particular, Fuzzy, is sort of like a mix between Norville "Shaggy" Rogers and various skateboard-riding 2cool teen sidekicks from the 80s and 90s. So he comes with a lot of dumb and silly catchphrases, but Kurt pushes for Fuzzy's cool side to be shown more often.
-After he was cast, he was pulled out of school and moved away from Recolle. He quickly lost touch with most of the people he knew back then.
-He received a mix of private tutors and lessons at private schools as his education from ages 12-17 and had little in the way of friends beyond the cast of his show.
-However, he does use the internet a lot to get away from the stresses of his acting life and joke around with memes. Through the net, he has made some new friends while also starting to reconnect with some of his Recolle friends.
-Only recently did he convince his parents to let him return to Recolle to attend college there. He is a college freshman and is overeager to have something like a "normal" social life. As part of the compromise, Kurt is left with a strict allowance instead of having access to the amount of the family funds that he's usually free to use.
-The show had a ratings dip in recent years and is currently on hiatus to undergo some kind of retooling, which is part of the reason Kurt was able to attend university. It left off on a literal cliffhanger, with Fuzzy hanging from a cliff.

AU PERSONALITY:

The differences in Kurt's personality come from him being part of a 'normal' world and not having to deal with his mutation, as well as from being raised by a very different kind of family. In his original timeline, he had the benefit of being raised by a humble, kind and accepting family. However, within the world of Recolle, his parents are controlling, emotionally distant and elitist. They've tried to shape Kurt into being something like them and trying to keep him away from people who seem to be lower-class. Kurt still manages to be a caring, goofy, fun-loving guy like in the original timeline. Despite his family's attempts to control him, he still prefers to hang around 'ordinary' people and doesn't agree with their values.

However, their influence as well as his years on the tv set have at least succeeded in making him more arrogant, ignorant and full of himself. His kinder side can often be buried under his ego, and so he's also very capable of being selfish. Also, it is now his tv show and family that cause a gap between himself and 'normal' people as opposed to his mutation. He does feel insecure about himself and whether or not people see him as a person or as his tv character. that his fame creates mixed feelings within him, as he loves the attention, but he feels conflicted about being recognized as his character instead of as himself, especially as he feels that this makes it harder to hang out with 'normal' teenagers. He's even insecure about the character himself - he prefers Fuzzy to be seen as both cool and funny, as opposed to just being comic relief (and often a butt monkey). This has caused him to clash with some of the show's writers/directors who focus on the comic relief aspect, and to lost his patience with fans who see him as just that.

Kurt also hasn't interacted with a lot of people his own age during his years on the show and in private tutoring, so in communicating with others he can often end up being too awkward and clueless or lay on his fame too much. He's more skilled at communicating through social media and the internet in general, since that's what he mostly had access to during his tv years. He's come to love memes and a lot of dumb jokes on the internet, but his insecurities come out when it comes to memes about his own character. He hates Fuzzy-related memes and becomes annoyed whenever any come up, especially because they reflect the comic relief image that he's trying to avoid. He still does like to goof around and make others laugh, but he wants to not be defined by it.

Other differences will become evident as Kurt starts to regain his memories. Being religious and acting for years in a show about slaying demons has ingrained him with feelings that will make him want to deny and reject the truth about his original self. It will not only be due to his own perception of himself, but also due to his fear of his family disowning him. He will be afraid of what he can become. At least for now, at his core, Kurt doesn't want to be a mutant or a demon. Maybe not even a tv actor. He just wants to be an ordinary college student.
